Sharing my love of the outdoors with people is a passion of mine.   I particularly like to point out the historically locations and tell the stories of those places.   Helping someone catch their very first Steelhead or Salmon, showing them a thrill in some of the finest whitewater around, or just telling the story of Buckskin Mary and of the Deschutes Railroad war.

Practically grew up on the banks of the Clackamas River,  fishing and camping with family and friends.   “Before I was even in high school, my folks would bring my brother and I and maybe some friends up to the upper Clackamas River and drop us off for a weekend of camping and hiking and fishing.   First Rafting trip was on the Clackamas when I was 14 years old.   Bought a drift boat and started guiding fishing and rafting trips in 1993, but mostly concentrated on my Construction business.  The business was profitable; guiding was more of a hobby.

Somewhere along the line here I wrote a book:  Drift Boats: A Complete Guide and have been quite pleased with its success.

After a 2001 divorce, I divested myself of my businesses and did a little traveling around the country in a  semi-truck,  rafting whenever I could, my fishing pole always close by.   My kids (four of them: three girls and a boy) were pretty well grown up so I was free to see the country – and I did.   Driving truck was an interesting way to do it;   I saw way too much pavement and not enough whitewater.

In 2005, thoroughly disgusted with driving a truck, I started guiding trips in the summer.  In the off season I began helping my brother get his fledgling contracting business off the ground until I fell through a ceiling and tore up my shoulder so badly I needed major surgery and almost a year in rehab. Lucky for me rowing and paddling were prescribed rehab conditioning.

Then I threw in with Troy and Tom and joined the Natural High Team and here I am; ready to help you find your own Natural High.

Come on, let's hit the river!
